"Deze unieke plaat met de Canadese fingerpicker Harris Newman -ooit beperkt uitgebracht als Canadese toer cd-r- betreft een live-set die reeds in 2008(!) opgenomen werd tijdens een gezamenlijk concert in de Vooruit tijdens het Etoiles Polaires festival. De samenwerking was deels bedoeld als wetenschappelijk experiment, maar vooral als ode aan de vrouwelijke blueslegende Geechie Wiley die rond 1930 een paar pareltjes van songs schreef om vervolgens in de chaos van het leven te verdwijnen. Ignatz koos zijn favoriete Wiley songs met als resultaat vijf lange composities met een totale looptijd van een kleine veertig minuten. (...) Bezwerend meeslepende sessie."

"Their companionability is immediately apparent. Working like alchemists in reverse, Devens transmutes the pure American primitive fingerpicking of Newman into corroded, flaking base metal. (...) The pair have highly developed individual styles that are strengthened by their differences, and together they get to the heart of what can make blues music so profoundly moving. This has more to do with improvisation and its allied possibilities of transcendence and failure than running up and down 12-bar scales at lightning speed.
